Terms of Service
Last updated: November 4, 2026 · Effective on launch
Hodea Health ("Hodea," "we," "us") is operated by Hodea Health LLC, a Texas limited liability company.
These Terms have two parts:
- Part A applies to everyone who uses Hodea.
- Part B also applies to practitioners, practices and shops that claim or manage a listing ("Providers").
By using Hodea, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Part A: Terms for everyone
1. Who may use Hodea
- Accounts and reviews are 18+ only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, write a review, claim a listing or submit a suggestion.
- You may browse without an account.
- Hodea is meant for adults, mainly parents looking for care for themselves and their families. It is not directed to children, and children may not create accounts or post content.
2. Hodea is a directory, not a healthcare provider
- Not medical advice. Hodea is an information directory. Nothing on Hodea is medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment recommendation. That includes listings, focus areas, badges, search results, symptom-search matches, reviews and articles.
- Symptom search only matches the words you type to the focus areas practitioners list for themselves. It does not tell you what condition you have or what care you need.
- Talk to a licensed clinician. Before starting, stopping or changing any treatment, talk to a licensed physician or other qualified clinician.
- Emergencies. If you think you or your child may have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988.
- No provider relationship with us. We are not a party to any relationship between you and a Provider. We don't provide, supervise or pay for care, and we don't book appointments. "Book" buttons open the Provider's own booking link or phone number.
3. Listings are neutral. We don't endorse or refer.
- Neutral listings. We list practitioners and health stores neutrally. That includes practitioners and stores who offer alternative or complementary therapies, and some therapies that are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- A listing is not an endorsement. It is not a recommendation, referral or statement that a therapy is safe or effective.
- We don't evaluate treatments. We don't repeat Providers' health claims, and we don't copy testimonials from Providers' websites onto Hodea.
- Our only removal rule. We remove a listing only when a state licensing board shows a revoked or suspended license, or a current board order that revokes, suspends or restricts the person's practice. We don't remove or label listings for warnings, fines or continuing-education orders.
- Do your own checks. Check a practitioner's license with the state board yourself, ask questions, and use your own judgment.
Badges mean only what their label says:
- "✓ Licensed in TX · [license]" means our team found an active Texas license record for that license type with the relevant state board on the date shown. It doesn't mean the license is still active today, and it doesn't mean the care offered is within the license's scope.
- "✓ Certification verified · [credential]" means the named private certifying body's registry showed the credential when we checked. A certification is not a state license.
- "Certification-based (no TX license exists)," "Not state-licensed," and "ND · Texas does not license NDs" describe the role's licensing status in Texas. They are not a judgment about the person.
- "From public registry" or "From public directory" means we built the listing from public data, and the practitioner may not have reviewed it.
Proposed profile/search disclaimer (from lawyer question 54): "Hodea lists practitioners neutrally and does not evaluate or endorse any treatment. Some therapies offered by listed practitioners are not approved by the FDA. Talk to a licensed physician before starting or stopping any treatment."
4. Accounts
- Sign-in is by email link (and later Apple or Google sign-in).
- Keep your email account secure. You're responsible for activity under your account.
- Give accurate information, and don't impersonate anyone.
- You can delete your account at any time from [FILL: Account screen / email]. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
5. Reviews and other user content
"User Content" means reviews, ratings, review headlines, reports, suggestions ("Suggest a practitioner or store") and anything else you submit.
5.1 Your rights in your content
- You keep ownership of your User Content.
- You give Hodea a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, moderate, format (for example, truncate or translate) and distribute your User Content on and in connection with Hodea and its promotion. The license lasts until you delete the content, except for copies we must keep under Section 5.4 or the Privacy Policy.
- We do not ask you to transfer your copyright or any other intellectual property rights in your reviews.
5.2 Honest reviews are welcome, including negative ones
- Nothing in these Terms limits your right to post an honest review or other honest feedback, positive or negative, about any Provider or about Hodea. We will never charge you a fee or impose a penalty for doing so.
- Providers may not ask you to sign anything that limits honest reviews as a condition of being listed (see Part B).
5.3 What not to post. Our Review & Moderation Policy [link] is part of these Terms. In short, don't post:
- Personal health details, yours or anyone else's: diagnoses, conditions, treatments, medications, pregnancy details, or your child's health information.
- Health-outcome claims or cure stories ("this cured my…", "got pregnant after 3 visits").
- Harassment, threats, hate, or obscene or sexually explicit content.
- Other people's personal information.
- Reviews where you have a conflict of interest (for example, you work for, own or are related to the business, or compete with it).
- Fake reviews, reviews you were paid or rewarded for, or reviews of places you haven't used.
- Spam, links, or contact information.
5.4 How we moderate
- Every review is checked before it appears. We apply the same written criteria to every review, whether it's positive or negative.
- We may decline, remove or ask you to edit content that breaks these Terms or the Moderation Policy.
- We don't edit the meaning of your review. If health details need removing, we ask you first.
- One review per person per listing. Editing a review sends it back for moderation.
5.5 Responsibility for content
- You are responsible for your User Content.
- User Content reflects the author's views, not Hodea's.
6. Sponsored results
Hodea may show Sponsored results. These are listings a Provider pays to show. The rules:
- They appear only during an active search (a text, category or specialty search), never on the default home list.
- At most 2 appear per page of results, in separate slots, each labeled "Sponsored" on the card and on the map pin.
- A sponsored listing shows only if it already matches your search and every filter you set.
- Payment never changes the order of regular (organic) results, ratings, reviews or badges.
- Sponsorship is advertising. It is not an endorsement or a quality rating.
7. Acceptable use
Don't:
- scrape or bulk-copy listings or reviews
- interfere with the service, or try to get around security or rate limits
- use Hodea to send spam or unsolicited marketing to Providers or users
- use Hodea for any unlawful purpose
8. Third-party links and services
Hodea links to Providers' websites and booking pages, and to Apple Maps and Google Maps for directions. On web, the map uses OpenFreeMap tiles. We don't control third-party sites and aren't responsible for them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.
9. Disclaimers
Hodea is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
We don't guarantee:
- that listing information (hours, prices, insurance, focus areas, credentials) is accurate, complete or current; it may come from public registries or from the Provider
- the quality, safety, legality or results of any Provider's services or any therapy
- that any license or certification is still active after the date we checked it
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Hodea and its owners, employees and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data.
- Hodea is not liable for any harm arising from a Provider's services, from any therapy, or from your reliance on listing content or reviews.
- Our total liability for any claim relating to Hodea is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. For most users that is $0, because Hodea is free to use.
Some laws don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
11. Indemnity (users)
If you post User Content that breaks these Terms or the law and a third party sues us over it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs.
12. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
- Unless the arbitration clause below is adopted, disputes go to the state or federal courts located in [FILL: Rockwall County / Dallas County], Texas.
13. Changes to these Terms
- We may update these Terms.
- For material changes, we'll give notice in the app and/or by email at least [FILL: 14/30] days before they take effect, except where a change is legally required sooner.
- If you keep using Hodea after the effective date, you accept the updated Terms.
- Changes won't apply to disputes that arose before the change.
14. Ending your use
- You may stop using Hodea and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or end accounts that break these Terms.
- Sections 5.1 (license, for content still displayed), 9–12 and 15 survive.
15. General
- These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Review & Moderation Policy are the whole agreement.
- If a part is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it.
- You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger or sale.

Part B: Provider and listing terms
These apply when you claim, manage or sponsor a listing, or ask us to correct or remove one. Part A also applies.
B1. How listings are created
- Unclaimed listings. Many listings start as unclaimed. We build them from public sources:
- the federal NPI Registry (NPPES)
- public professional directories
- licensing-board records
- a Provider's own public website, for neutral facts only, such as hours, address, and the plain names of services or products carried
- Labels on unclaimed listings. They say "From public registry, last updated <date>. Is this you? Claim it." or "From public directory (<site>), last updated <date>.".
- What we never import. We don't import emails, health claims or testimonials.
B2. Claiming a listing
To claim a listing you must:
- Be the practitioner, or authorized staff of the practice or shop.
- Verify through one or more of these:
- a code sent to a work email whose domain matches the listed website
- an NPI check against the public NPI Registry
- a callback to the practice phone on file
- Wait while our team checks the relevant licensing-board record. For roles Texas does not license, we note "no state license."
We may approve or refuse a claim at our discretion. We give a reason when we refuse.
B3. Provider attestations
When you claim or update a listing, you confirm that:
- License accuracy. The license and certification details you give are accurate and complete. No license you hold is revoked or suspended or restricted by a current board order.
- Keeping it current. You will update your listing, or tell us at hello@hodeahealth.com, within [FILL: 10] business days if any license or certification lapses, expires, or becomes subject to a board order that revokes, suspends or restricts practice. The same applies if your name, practice location or contact details change.
- Authority. You are the practitioner, or are authorized by the practice or shop to manage the listing and accept these Terms for it.
- Bios, Treatment philosophy and Root Approach. All text you submit follows the Hodea writing guide. In particular, you will not:
- promise or claim to cure, treat, heal, reverse or "fix the root cause of" any disease or condition
- name medical conditions unless you hold a verified, active Texas license whose scope covers them
- include patient stories, testimonials, outcome claims or before-and-after claims
- disparage other kinds of care or practitioners
- include contact details, links, prices or discount codes outside their own fields
You may name the services or therapies you offer as plain service names, described neutrally without outcome claims.
- Scope and title. You will only advertise services within your lawful scope of practice in Texas. If you use the title "Dr.," you will show the degree or license behind it (Tex. Occ. Code §104.003–.004, https://tcss.legis.texas.gov/resources/OC/htm/OC.104.htm).
- Telehealth. You will mark telehealth to Texas patients only if you hold an active Texas license that permits it. Roles Texas doesn't license may offer "virtual wellness sessions" only: education and support, with no diagnosis or treatment.
- Your own legal duties. You remain solely responsible for your services, your advertising and your compliance with law. That includes licensing, scope-of-practice and FTC rules on health claims (FTC Health Products Compliance Guidance, https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/health-products-compliance-guidance).
B4. We moderate your edits
- Every bio, Treatment philosophy and Root Approach edit is reviewed before it appears. Your current text stays up until a moderator approves the new version.
- We may decline or send back edits with a reason.
- Focus tags for medical conditions or clinical services are available only when you hold a verified, active Texas license whose scope covers them. Everyone else may choose wellness tags.
- Changes to key fields (name, NPI) need admin re-review.
B5. Reviews about you
- You may not delete reviews.
- You may reply once to each review (you can edit the reply) and report a review you believe breaks our policy. Replies are moderated.
- Do not confirm or suggest that a reviewer is your patient or client, and don't mention any treatment details. If you are a HIPAA covered entity or bound by state confidentiality law, a reply can itself be an unlawful disclosure.
- You may not offer anything in exchange for a review, or for a positive or negative one (16 CFR §465.4, https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/16/465.4).
- You may not post reviews of your own business, or have staff or family do so (§465.5).
- You may not threaten, intimidate or make knowingly false accusations against a reviewer to get a review removed (§465.7(a)).
- No gag clauses. You may not use, or ask clients to sign, any form contract that limits their honest reviews, penalizes them for reviewing, or claims their review rights. Such terms are void and unlawful under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (15 U.S.C. §45b, https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/45b). We may remove a listing that does.
B6. Sponsored placement
- Reporting to sponsors. Sponsors get aggregate counts only, such as impressions and clicks. They never get the search terms, symptoms or filters that triggered their result, or anything identifying a user.
B7. Corrections, takedowns and opting out of an unclaimed listing
- Corrections. Anyone may report an error using "Suggest an edit"/hello@hodeahealth.com. We aim to review reports within [FILL: 5] business days.
- Unclaimed-listing opt-out. A practitioner or shop that hasn't claimed its listing may ask us to remove it or hide it from search at hello@hodeahealth.com. We'll verify identity the same way as a claim, then remove or hide it within [FILL: 10] business days.
- We may keep a minimal suppression record (name, NPI) so the listing isn't recreated from public data.
- Board action. We remove a listing when a state licensing board shows a revoked or suspended license, or a current order that revokes, suspends or restricts practice. We keep the board source and date. Warnings, fines and continuing-education orders don't remove a listing and aren't shown.
- Regulator letters. An FDA or FTC warning letter is reviewed by our Founder. It does not automatically remove or label a listing.
- Legal notices. Send copyright notices and court orders to hello@hodeahealth.com, 610 Big Oak Ct., Rockwall, TX 75087.
B8. License to your listing content
You give Hodea a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, format and distribute what you submit (bio, photos, logos, hours, services) on and in connection with Hodea. It lasts while your listing is up and for a reasonable time after removal to clear caches and backups. You confirm you have the rights to anything you upload.
B9. Provider indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Hodea and its owners, employees and contractors against third-party claims, losses and reasonable legal fees arising from:
- your services or therapies
- your listing content (bio, Treatment philosophy, Root Approach, photos)
- breach of your attestations or these Terms
- your replies to reviews, including any privacy or confidentiality breach
- your violation of any law, including licensing, scope-of-practice, advertising and health-privacy laws
B10. Suspension and removal
We may unpublish or remove a listing, or end a Provider's management access, if:
- an attestation is false or not kept current
- the content breaks these Terms
- a licensing board shows grounds for removal under Part A §3
We will give notice and a chance to respond where practical, except where a board record or the law requires faster action.
